This is a diagram book with outline drawings of various classes of steam locomotives operated by North American railroad companies in the 19th and 20th centuries. But, there are only 2 tender diagrams. So each page is an outline with general dimensions of a locomotive, one or two B&W side photographs and no tender outline. This may be by the publisher considered a "collector's edition" because it is a hardcover book.
Description: Great for the historian, scale modeler, or railroad buff, this collectible quality volume illustratively describes the steam locomotive dating from 1856. The various locomotives are grouped according to wheel arrangement, beginning with the simplest in the Whyte system.
