There are many steam locomotives and early diesels pictured in this book. These are not grungy, tired engines here. It looks like the B&O applied good maintenance practices even as the engines were soon to be retired. Some engines here were freshly shopped and painted and have glossy black paint. Inside are many sharp, high quality photographs of the steam to diesel locomotive transition era.
