About 20% of the book is from the steam era of the Canadian Pacific. Steam locomotives are seen at stations and on turntables. The next most common era is the early diesel era with power in the maroon and grey paint scheme. There are quite a few depot photographs with no train blocking the view. There are some photographs of other interesting subjects: snow sheds, bridges, docks and barge facilities. Overall the book features clean photographs of depots.
