Santa Fe in Color Series Volume 5: Arizona
This volume features the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway in the state of Arizona. The journey begins on the New Mexico/Arizona border at Lupton and continues west to Williams Junction. From there, we head south to Phoenix, with side trips along the way to Clarkdale, Prescott, and Parker. Returning to Williams Junction, the tour continues with a brief look at the Grand Canyon District before heading west to the Colorado River at Topock on the Arizona/California Border.
The era of this volume covers the Santa Fe from the late 1960s to the AT&SF-BNSF merger in December 1996. Expanded coverage is given to the old Kingman District – in later years, the west end of the Seligman Subdivision – between Seligman and Topock.
Included in this book are many photographs of mainline freight and passenger trains, locals on branch lines and work trains going about their daily chores. See also maintenance of way activity, stations, employees, structures, bridges, signals, and an ample coverage of the Grand Canyon State's beautiful scenery.
