This book presents reflections on the operations of the Illinois Central and Gulf, Mobile & Ohio railroads which merged and became the Illinois Central Gulf in 1972. In 1988 the merged railroad was renamed the Illinois Central after many GM&O routes were spun off as short line and regional railroads.
Examined are operations in the states of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Indiana. An amazing amount of information and data were gathered to produce this book.
