There are a few photographs from the late 1940s. Most are from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Most passenger equipment is painted Armour Yellow. This book is not all mainline action. You will see some commuter trains in the Chicago area but also scenes from branch lines in Wisconsin and Iowa. Included are many depot and tower photographs. A few photographs of the new Milwaukee passenger station under construction and the location that it replaced are interesting.
Stations, towers, shops are shown in use by the locomotives, trains, and employees of the Milwaukee. Follow the Route of the Olympian Hiawatha west from Chicago Union Station to the western edge of the Iowa border.
