I enjoyed this look at the Milwaukee Road in the West from the late 1960s to the end of the Pacific Extension. The photography begins with Milwaukee Road trackage rights obtained through the Burlington Northern merger into Portland, Oregon. Then from Portland on to Tacoma and Auburn. Go over Snoqualmie Pass to Cle Elum and down to the Columbia River and cross the huge bridge near Beverly.
Othello, Avery, Superior, St. Regis, Deer Lodge and many more famous locations are shown. The trek ends at the beginning of Milwaukee Road's electrification to the Pacific coast, Harlowton, Montana.
Electric operation from Avery west was still in operation for many of the photographs. The author was fortunate to obtain cab rides for another perspective in this look at the Milwaukee Road. There are many scenic shots showing the spectacular bridges and territory. The captions are by the author and you can tell he really enjoyed his many trips to see this railroad.
