This is the third and last Volume of a series of color pictorials dealing with the locomotives of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad. It deals with the final decade of operations of the railroad. The fall into oblivion did not proceed at a uniform rate, nor was it an entirely foregone conclusion until very close to the end. But even in decline, the Rock Island remained an interesting property.
Most of the photographs came from the Al Chione collection plus the vast RI collection of Peter Arnold was also tapped and others used where necessary to fill in certain chapters. Includes locomotive rosters, the Capital Rebuild Program, plus many other interesting scenes including a Union Pacific rotary snowplow clearing the Limon to Colorado Springs line.
Four Ways West Publications, hardcover, 128 pages, standard portrait book 8 x 10 in., all Color photographs.
