Volume 2 continues the examination of Southern Pacific's equipment roster covering SP and SSW tank cars, box cars, gondolas, hoppers, flat cars, auto racks, and refrigerator cars using the best color Railfan photography available. Some of the box cars presented in this book were built in the 1920's with pictures taken of them from 1960 on. Other cars were built later with a number of cars from the 1940s and 1950s with their photographs taken primarily in the 1970s. This volume has pictures taken by railroad enthusiasts, so the equipment is 'as is' in service. Therefore the equipment has road dirt and markings unlike Volume 1.
