The author put himself through college as a mainline railroader and purchased his first caboose to use as an office. More soon joined his fleet, and his family eventually occupied several cabooses and freight cars as their home in British Columbia.
The book includes history and anecdotes about the use of railroad cabooses, and a good deal of storytelling about how cabooses have been used after their careers on the rails concluded.
Photos are confined to several short sections, this is not a photo book.
